The Lunar Eclipse – November 19, 2021

11-19-2021 2:10 a.m. lunar eclipse – photo by Dan Lockhart

Set my alarm for 2:00 a.m. and woke up at 1:58. I took the above picture at the peak of the eclipse around 2:10. It was really cold outside and my fingers were getting numb after about 20 minutes. I tried to set my camera for manual infinity for the focus, but it didn’t seem to want to do that. At 2:00 I didn’t want to break out the manual, so I just stuck with auto focus. There was a light cloud layer and in fact 10 minutes after I shot this pic the clouds completely obstructed the moon.

Overall, I was very happy and excited to get the shot. Probably one of the best in my photographic career. Actually, I was just happy to witness this event.
