Broken Tradition

Since Carin and I moved to Crested Butte, every St. Patrick’s Day, I would go to the Umbrella Bar, sit and relax and have a beer. I tried to make it happen again, but the crowds on the mountain were too bad. You have to take two lifts to get to the Umbrella Bar. I got in line at the Red Lady Express at 14:15. Taking Red Lady was the first mistake. After I got in line, I noticed the ski school people were just pouring in. I should have taken the Silver Queen. Too late. I finally got on the lift at 14:45. I have never seen a 30 minute wait at CBMR. I didn’t make to the Umbrella Bar until 15:20. 20 minutes after they closed. We’ll maybe next year.

So Carin and I ended up going to Tully’s in CB South. I had the bangers. (Sausage on mashed potatoes, onions and gravy). It was actually quite good. I also got to drink my beers (Guinness). So all-in-all still a successful Saint Patty’s Day celebration.
